Personal Day 2: cooperation

A day for two. Agreement achieves more than pressure today, and patience wins. Personal Day 2 is about agreement: it favours whatever is done together and without hurry.

A Personal Day is worked out from your date of birth and today's date, and it runs in a cycle from 1 to 9. Below: what to spend such a day on, what to avoid, and how it shows in work, relationships and travel.

What kind of day it is

Today other people matter, and so do the small things in a conversation. Listen longer than you speak.

The day moves slowly, and that is its virtue. Talk through with others what was decided in a rush.

What to do on a Personal Day 2

  • Hear people out
  • Agree the small things in advance
  • Ask for help
  • Say thank you for what was done
  • Give the other person time to answer
  • Do one job with someone

What to avoid

  • Hurrying people and events
  • Deciding on the other person's behalf
  • Taking offence at a tone of voice
  • Ultimatums
  • Keeping quiet about what stung
  • Comparing who did more

Morning, evening and best hours

Do not hurry yourself or anyone else this morning: the day warms up slowly.

Spend the evening in company, in person or on the phone, or write someone a proper letter. Leave the television off.

The best hours of a Personal Day 2 are 10:00–12:00. That is the time to give to the main thing of the day.

Work

A great deal depends on other people today, and hurrying them is useless. Take up whatever needs attention to detail: checking, comparing, preparing. Where the job is shared, ask the other person what suits them. Giving way over what gets done first today saves you a week later on.

Today things get done by agreement. Do not make a decision that concerns two people without the other one. It is a good day to ask someone who is falling behind whether they want a hand, and to ask for help yourself where you are stuck. Pride costs more than a request today.

Relationships

This is a day for closeness, and closeness grows from attention to small things. Notice when someone dear to you is tired, what they have done, what they are keeping quiet about. Feelings bruise easily today, and a sharp word cuts deeper. Speak more gently than you think necessary.

It is good today simply to be with someone and do nothing much: tea, a walk, a comfortable silence. Do not decide for them or press them for an answer. If something has stung you, say so quietly today: a hurt that is stored up comes out later as a quarrel.

Travel

Do not hurry on the road today. It is a slow day, so be ready for delays and for companions who take their time. Leave a margin and bring something to fill the wait. If you can travel with someone, do: a journey invites calm conversation.

Small things matter on the road today. Check your documents, charger and keys before you leave. If you are going with someone, agree in advance who brings what and where you meet. Choose a familiar route; surprises are tiring today.

How to tell that today is your Personal Day 2

A Personal Day takes three steps. First, the Personal Year: add your birth month, your birth day and the current year, reducing each to a single digit, then reduce the total to a single digit.

Next, the Personal Month: add the number of the current month to the Personal Year and reduce again. Finally, the Personal Day: add today's calendar date to the Personal Month and reduce to a single digit.

Example: Personal Month 5 and the 12th give 17, and 1 + 7 = 8. That is a Personal Day 8. The next day is a 9, then a 1 again.

Questions

How often does a Personal Day 2 come round?

Personal Days run in a cycle from 1 to 9, so a Personal Day 2 returns about every nine days. At the turn of the month the order shifts, because the Personal Month changes.

Is the Personal Day the same for everyone?

No. It is worked out from your date of birth, so on the same calendar day different people have different Personal Days. The number shared by everyone is called the Universal Day, which is a different number.

How is a Personal Day different from a Personal Year?

A Personal Year sets the theme for twelve months, a Personal Month for one month, and a Personal Day describes the tone of a single day. The shorter the period, the more practical the advice: what to do today and what to leave.

Can I get my Personal Day every day?

Yes. A MyNum subscription sends a letter about your day in the morning, or the evening before. The first 5 days are free, with no card.
