Personal Day 4: order
A day of work and foundations. Today rewards finishing, not inventing. Personal Day 4 is about foundations: it strengthens whatever you have put work into.
A Personal Day is worked out from your date of birth and today's date, and it runs in a cycle from 1 to 9. Below: what to spend such a day on, what to avoid, and how it shows in work, relationships and travel.
What kind of day it is
Steadiness decides everything today. Take the job that has waited longest and finish it, tidying up included.
A day with no shortcuts. Dull work gives the most solid result today.
What to do on a Personal Day 4
- Finish what you started
- Sort the papers and bills
- Mend something that has been waiting
- Plan the week ahead
- Check dates and sums
- Clear away the clutter
What to avoid
- Rushing it just to get it done
- Starting something new
- Working till night without a break
- Starting a new job before finishing the old
- Putting off the dull part
- Redoing what is finished
Morning, evening and best hours
This morning, write a list and work through it from the top.
This evening, fix an hour to stop, and stop when it comes.
The best hours of a Personal Day 4 are 09:00–11:00. That is the time to give to the main thing of the day.
Work
Today is a day of pure graft. Take whatever needs time and attention and work through it in order. Anything that depends on precision comes out well today: calculations, paperwork, repairs. Do not look for a faster way: the more reliable way wins today.
Today favours whoever ties up loose ends. Whatever is already begun comes before anything new. Put new tasks off: they will have their own day. The same goes at home: bills, shelves, tools, whatever is waiting for your attention.
Relationships
Love is shown by deeds today. Mend something, fetch something, do what you promised. Fine words are not what is wanted; reliability is. With anyone who shares your life, agree on the simple things: who does what, who pays for what. Clarity brings people closer today.
Today is full of jobs, and feelings take a back seat. Do not mistake that for coldness, in yourself or in anyone else. Find ten minutes to sit with someone you care about, or to ring them, with no task in hand. No reproaches today: people are doing their best. Thank them for the everyday things.
Travel
Travel needs order today. Go with a purpose and a plan: that way you fit everything in. Check the timetable, the tickets, the fuel, the tyre pressure. It is a good day for getting the car or the bicycle into shape and clearing out the boot.
Stick to the rules of the road today. Do not cut corners or take risks to save five minutes. If you have a long way to go, pack your bag from a list. Pleasure trips feel flat today, while a trip with a purpose suits the day.
How to tell that today is your Personal Day 4
A Personal Day takes three steps. First, the Personal Year: add your birth month, your birth day and the current year, reducing each to a single digit, then reduce the total to a single digit.
Next, the Personal Month: add the number of the current month to the Personal Year and reduce again. Finally, the Personal Day: add today's calendar date to the Personal Month and reduce to a single digit.
Example: Personal Month 5 and the 12th give 17, and 1 + 7 = 8. That is a Personal Day 8. The next day is a 9, then a 1 again.
Questions
How often does a Personal Day 4 come round?
Personal Days run in a cycle from 1 to 9, so a Personal Day 4 returns about every nine days. At the turn of the month the order shifts, because the Personal Month changes.
Is the Personal Day the same for everyone?
No. It is worked out from your date of birth, so on the same calendar day different people have different Personal Days. The number shared by everyone is called the Universal Day, which is a different number.
How is a Personal Day different from a Personal Year?
A Personal Year sets the theme for twelve months, a Personal Month for one month, and a Personal Day describes the tone of a single day. The shorter the period, the more practical the advice: what to do today and what to leave.
Can I get my Personal Day every day?
Yes. A MyNum subscription sends a letter about your day in the morning, or the evening before. The first 5 days are free, with no card.
