Personal Day 5: change
A day of movement. Plans shift today, so look for the good in what you did not expect. Personal Day 5 is about change: it helps whoever does not cling to yesterday.
A Personal Day is worked out from your date of birth and today's date, and it runs in a cycle from 1 to 9. Below: what to spend such a day on, what to avoid, and how it shows in work, relationships and travel.
What kind of day it is
Today favours the flexible. Say yes to something new and do not cling to your plans.
A day of freedom and trying things. Even a small change freshens the whole day.
What to do on a Personal Day 5
- Take a different route
- Say yes to the unexpected
- Talk to someone new
- Change the usual order
- Get out for a few hours
- Try an unfamiliar dish
What to avoid
- Big purchases on impulse
- Sharp words in the heat of the moment
- Holding to the plan at any cost
- Promises of “forever”
- Taking risks for the thrill
- Dropping a task out of boredom
Morning, evening and best hours
Leave some slack in your morning.
Take no big decisions this evening: wait until morning.
The best hours of a Personal Day 5 are 15:00–17:00. That is the time to give to the main thing of the day.
Work
Everything is in motion today. Be ready for a plan to change, for someone not to turn up, for an unexpected task. Do not fight it: change works in your favour today. It is a good day for a new contact, a first call, or finding another supplier or tradesman.
Today favours whoever adapts quickly. If the usual method is not working, drop it and try another. It is a good day for finding things out: asking, watching how others do it, comparing. If you have to sign something long-term today, read it to the end first.
Relationships
Relationships need fresh air today. Do something with someone that you have not done before: go somewhere new, try an unusual activity. Habit is stifling today. Do not pin anyone down with questions: give people room, and closeness comes more easily.
Feelings are changeable today: one moment you are drawn to someone, the next you want to run. Read nothing into that. A sharp word slips out faster than usual. If you are single, it is a good day for a lively new encounter; enjoy it and leave the planning for later.
Travel
This is your day for travel. You feel the pull of the road and want to go further. Go: a journey today is a fresh start in miniature. Be ready for the plan to change, and do not regret it. Hold the timetable loosely and take a light bag.
The best part of a journey today is the part you did not plan. Turn where you did not intend to, walk through an unfamiliar door. It is a good day for a first trip to another town and for a chat with a fellow passenger. Do not speed: speed goes to your head today.
How to tell that today is your Personal Day 5
A Personal Day takes three steps. First, the Personal Year: add your birth month, your birth day and the current year, reducing each to a single digit, then reduce the total to a single digit.
Next, the Personal Month: add the number of the current month to the Personal Year and reduce again. Finally, the Personal Day: add today's calendar date to the Personal Month and reduce to a single digit.
Example: Personal Month 5 and the 12th give 17, and 1 + 7 = 8. That is a Personal Day 8. The next day is a 9, then a 1 again.
Questions
How often does a Personal Day 5 come round?
Personal Days run in a cycle from 1 to 9, so a Personal Day 5 returns about every nine days. At the turn of the month the order shifts, because the Personal Month changes.
Is the Personal Day the same for everyone?
No. It is worked out from your date of birth, so on the same calendar day different people have different Personal Days. The number shared by everyone is called the Universal Day, which is a different number.
How is a Personal Day different from a Personal Year?
A Personal Year sets the theme for twelve months, a Personal Month for one month, and a Personal Day describes the tone of a single day. The shorter the period, the more practical the advice: what to do today and what to leave.
Can I get my Personal Day every day?
Yes. A MyNum subscription sends a letter about your day in the morning, or the evening before. The first 5 days are free, with no card.
